Section #
5 - FTP Folder & Image File Management
You can open the FTP Folder from the Page Management &
Company Information Menus. The folder will open in a new window. You can send
the Interface to the back, browse your computer for the file you want to upload...
then drag it from your computer into the FTP Folder.
When the folder is opened in your browser, the address bar
may display the link to the folder. This link may also include the FTP username
and password. You may create a shortcut on your computer to this folder if
you like, but it is not recommended because I may change the username and
password now and then as a safety precaution. The only
reliable way to login to the folder is through the Interface.
- FTP Folder - A
- The folder in Internet Explorer works pretty much
the same as a folder on your computer. You can change view options,
sort, select, copy, paste and delete... etc.
- You can also create folders for your images. If you
do, you'll need to keep them simple and without punctuation because
the Interface needs to index them when you import the images.
- "-default" Folder - B
- This folder contains the default images that come
with the program, it may also contain your logo file because I usually
convert it and upload it here as a part of the free trial.
- Banner Image File - C
- Replace this file with your logo or banner to be displayed
at the top of the Reports. It must be labeled "banner.jpg",
as it is hardcoded into the report script.
- Cover Image File - D
- This is the default cover page image. You can upload
a different image, then import it using Page Management. I don't suggest
overwriting this file unless you have an image you'd rather use as the
default.
- Logo Image File - E
- If I have your logo file when I initiate the account,
I upload it as "logo.jpg". Otherwise it is just a filler image
"Your Logo Here".
- You can add any image you like to use as your logo.
You can also use a different image for the cover age than you use for
the title block.
- The logo can be imported by name, or your can replace
the logo.jpg file with something else.
Image File Formatting & Requirements
- Image files must be ".jpg" files.
- They must be "baseline" .jpg files. (standard
& optimized are both OK)
- They must not be "progressive scan" files. (popular
on webpages) The Interface cannot display them.
- When naming your image files, I suggest keeping it simple,
and you cannot use punctuation (except ".jpg" of course)
- Floorplans should be cropped and rotated before uploading
to best fit a Portrait orientation. (you can rotate the page to Landscape
in the Interface if you like)
- I also suggest erasing the rooms names and using the Room
Titles in the Interface.
- If you have any trouble with your images, please email
me with the filename. I will download it from your folder and see if I can
convert it. I also have Image File Cleanup & Vector services, see the
home page for details and pricing. I plan to include a Before/After Gallery
in the near future.
- If I create a Vector file for you, it will also have the
.jpg extension, but it will not be a real .jpg. So if you try to open it
in your browser it won't work. I can provide you with a true .jpg copy for
your archives if you like.
